The Chancer Golden Ale by James Squire (AUS)

My second beer from the James Squire stable had to go some to match the quality of The Constable. Aussies like to bet on anything and you can bet your bottom dollar this Golden Ale is everything as good as the ‘Copper’ one.

As fresh as the salad from my neighbour’s garden, it’s a beautiful dark, gold, almost bronze colour. Slightly fruity on the nose, it slides down easily and is not dissimilar to the Monteith’s Summer Ale. At 4.5%, it’s refreshing with a hint of citrus and muted, bitter finish. After an hour’s digging in the garden this evening I found it to be very more-ish and regretted that I only had one in the fridge. (Note to self, fail to plan, plan to fail). Take a chance on me ……

Sorry Abba fans, I was tempted but here’s the Stranglers with ‘Golden Brown’
