If 6 X was ‘a sort of homecoming’, then surely ‘Tribute’ is the real deal. St Austell Brewery’s flagship ale is now sold around the country but for me, the best place to drink it is in the front bar of the the St Agnes Hotel.
A clear, bronze ale, it certainly has fruit on the nose but surely a different hop variety to the Australian pale ales I’ve been tasting. It holds its head all the way down the glass and I taste citrus with a hint of caramel and beautiful bitter finish. All ales over the next couple of weeks will be judged against this one. Tribute, I raise a glass to you!
